Dog Sitting

My Aunt Pat watched me yesterday while my owner went to Ocean City for a meeting.  I love hanging at Aunt Pats house.

She has a really cute Cavalier King Charles named Tyler.  Tyler just loves me.  He jumps all over me for at least the first hour during my stay.

Aunt Pat always has great treats for me and gives me lots of hugs.

Walking Miss Daisy

I was excited to meet Miss Daisy on my walk this morning. Daisy is a youthful 11 year old fox... By fox I mean cutie. She's really a mix breed- part Akita. She was all about playing this morning. We look forward to hanging with her on more sunrise walks.

Our walk

Maggie and I went for a walk today. Maggie normally doesn't walk she barrels down the road at the speed of sound.

She got the gentle leader to make Mary's life easier. She walks like a normal dog with it on;however, she knows how to take it off. She finds the grass and wipes her nose against it I'll it comes off.

The only way to keep her from taking it off is to make her walk. In the street. At one point we didn't notice and Maggie was trying to get it off this time with her face in sh$&. Her poor mommy.

Giovanni

I had such an awesome time over the holidays hanging with my new buddy Giovanni.  Giovanni is my owners brothers girlfriends Papillon.  He lives out in California with them.

This was his first trip to NJ and he prepared by getting some new Uggs (later to be returned) and a doggie sweater.    I haven't been to California before,  but I get a sense that he's used to warmer weather.

Giovanni got to ride with them on the plane in the main cabin.  He's certified as a special therapy dog.  That means he's smart and really important and really lucky.

Giovanni was a pleasure to hang with.  We spent all day together on Christmas.  We hung out on the beach, opened gifts together, had a sleepover, had a house party while our owners were in NYC and went on a walk together with my dog walker, Meg.   Meg said that everyone was smiling at her while walking us...  I guess its not normal to see a cute Bernese Mountain Dog walking with a cute Papillon.  

Gio- I can't wait for you to come visit again!  Maybe I'll start the process to become a therapy dog so I can come out to visit you in Newport Beach.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my owners gave to me Twitter Dog Updater,  Skull & Crossbone Poop Bags, Friskies Party Mix, Happy Hips Treats and a Thundershirt (for Maggie).

I don't have one but I think they are supposed to apply gentle, constant pressure on a dog’s torso.   I guess its kind of like getting a hug whenever a dog wears one.  I love hugs and usually ask for them when I'm nervous.  This makes this a good gift for any dog that has anxiety.

Bushel and a Peck

My owner sings to me every day when I wake up.  Recently she's been singing "A Bushel And A Peck".    

She doesn't know all the words.  The most she knows is:

There are more lyrics but I'm not sure if I want her to start singing "Doodle, oodle, oodle." Too embarrassing.

 My owner is not a singer by any means so here is Perry Como & Betty Hutton's version.

Why is this our song?  I'm not exactly sure but it is a nice way to start the day. 

Great way to start each day

Every morning at the very first sign of daybreak I wake up my owner for my morning walk. I go to her side of the bed and just stare at her till she opens her eyes. Sometimes I have to give her a paw to wake her on a weekend.

Once shes up, I stretch out and yawn. Then she usually asks if I "want to go for one" (walk that is). Then I bark three times and head for downstairs.

When we get downstairs I do everything I can to keep my owner to her promise. I follow her to the bathroom, then try to help her put on her shoes and follow her to my leash.

Once we are outside we run onto the beach for the sunrise. Here's one from the other morning.

I "dig" beach days

Today was another beautiful day on the beach in Manasquan.

I'm lucky to have nice owners who set up an umbrella for me so I watch people go by on the path.

Before laying down, I like to dig to find the cool sand.  My style is a bit different from most dogs. This is how it's done.
