Time To Make The Costume

In my blog yesterday I mentioned how I enjoyed watching Martha's Pet Halloween episode on tv.  Last year I wanted to go to the taping of the show to see it in dog-son (my version of person).   Back in September I tasked my owner with going to Martha's website to see if we could get tickets.

Wouldn't you know it- Martha wanted us to come to the taping!  I'm sure you could imagine my excitement... Francesca, Sharkey, Ghenghis and tons of other dogs in the same studio audience.   The one request Martha had was that I dress up in costume.  Ah... No problem!

I kept dream of the cat-walk and trying to think what would be the best costume and alas!  I decided to be a Swiss Pastry Chef.  I'm obviously Swiss so that was pretty easy and a pastry chef is right up Martha's alley.  I decided to document the steps in creating my costume.  Here's how I made it:

I Like Martha Stewart

For Halloween 2009,  I enjoyed watching Martha Stewart's Pet Halloween show.  I must say I am all about the fashion.  With Isaac Mizrahi appearing on the segment, I had to watch the "cat"walk and see what my fellow pets were wearing.   I was particularly fond of this particular kitty.

More to come soon about what we did last year.
Let's just say we weren't sitting on the couch watching tv.

I'm the perfect family dog

My friend Katie has been looking into getting a puppy when her family moves into a new house.  Katie is married and has the cutest one year old.   Katie has told me that she can't wait to get a puppy since she had dogs growing up.  She's considering Golden Retrievers, Labradoodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs. Now that she has a one year old, she needs to consider which breed makes the perfect family dog.  I'm awesome with kids so I love it when the family comes to visit.

In a recent email, Katie sent me the below research on the Breed:

"Bernese Mountain Dog: The Bernese Mountain Dog is another “gentle giant” – they usually range from 80-120 lbs and have a kind and gentle look about them that gives great insight into their personalities. The breed is generally very stable and trainable but requires a patient hand and lots of positive encouragement. They make excellent companions for children and other pets. Bernese Mountain Dogs were used to pull carts in Switzerland and the The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Americaholds trials for this activity!"

You know my vote.  I'd even consider having some offspring of my own to complete the search if I could find the right b-tch.  Know any hotties?

Great way to start each day

Every morning at the very first sign of daybreak I wake up my owner for my morning walk. I go to her side of the bed and just stare at her till she opens her eyes. Sometimes I have to give her a paw to wake her on a weekend.

Once shes up, I stretch out and yawn. Then she usually asks if I "want to go for one" (walk that is). Then I bark three times and head for downstairs.

When we get downstairs I do everything I can to keep my owner to her promise. I follow her to the bathroom, then try to help her put on her shoes and follow her to my leash.

Once we are outside we run onto the beach for the sunrise. Here's one from the other morning.

Pet friendly in vermont?

I'm thinking about heading to Vermont soon to check out the mountains. I'm looking into Stratton and also Stowe for a long weekend. The trip will take about 5-6 hours to drive.. I'm going to be chauferred by my owners so I'm hoping to nap along the way. I've been told that dog friendly hotels may be tricky to find. Honestly, I don't know who wouldnt want to host me as their guest. I did see that the trapp family lodge in stowe is dog friendly. This may just be as close to Switzerland as I get. My owner has been there before when she was younger. I hope she books this place! L.l. beds, hike maps, water bowls in rooms and treats! I love it. http://www.trappfamily.com If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Shopping in Avalon this Summer

I just found some pictures from a shopping trip in Avalon. Avalon is a great town to walk around and check out the stores. I especially enjoyed the outdoor water bars:)

They also have a bunch of little outdoor cafes that are often dog friendly. We stopped by the burger place and met another Berner.

Shout out to my buddy Louie

Louie sitting under
me in the car
I figure I should post about some of my dog friends.  Today I'm thinking about my buddy Louie.  Louie is my bulldog neighbor in Red Bank.

Louie and I met when we moved back from Haddonfield to the place my owners purchased PT (preTubz).  Louie and I shared many mornings on the deck after I returned from my morning walk.  We had good times swapping houses for better treats. I'd go over to Jenn's for some cheese or some foofy treats from Paw Palace and Louie would come over to our place for water and milkbones.  I definitely think I had the better deal but Louie was all about our water.

I havent seen Louie since we moved to Manasquan for the winter.  I hear he still looks in our door to beg for some water.  Hope all is well man.

Check out Louie's blog to learn more about him.

I Love Rainy Days

I love to be towel dried
by my pops
I was happy to hear the sound of the rain outside my window before my morning walk.

I normally hate anything that has to do with getting wet like baths, swims, etc.  I do; however, enjoy a good towel dry with my own special towel and blow dry with my owners fancy Chi dryer.

This morning I was told that I was out of my pet food.  Apparently someone forgot to pick up my usual, Orijen Regional Red, when she was picking up her dinner last night.

I usually get about 1 1/2 cups twice a day.  This food is highly recommended by most high quality pet stores.  It's grain free and includes many delicious ingredients.

I do not; however, take it straight up.  I got my owners in the habit of giving me a topping on it every meal.  Some toppings include eggs, Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, hamburger meat.  You get the picture.

This morning I'll be rationing the remaining 1/2 cup until B.C Woof  in Manasquan opens.

Pool party

My buddy jib and I had a fun lunch walk followed by a little pool party.

We've heard the pool was a happening scene this summer but not we moved in.

Jib decided to change that today.

Let the pool parties continue until the pool is closed. Ill host but don't get any thoughts about me swimming.

B-tches: come on by anytime and hang out w us guys!

A Little Short In The Rear

My blog post yesterdaymade me think back to when I was groomed at a place that rhymes with Metsmart.    On this particular Fall 2010 day, Edward Scissorhands was my groomer.  My owner instructed Edward to do the usual and just trim up around my "sanitary".  She learned this term from another one of my groomers.  Edward took the liberty to fully manscape me.  Yup fellas I was manscaped. No more feathers.  Edward trimmed my rear up pretty close and didn't leave any hair "you know where".  (See reference to my manhood in my first post.)

Let's just say my family and friends were shocked every time I rolled over.  It took months for it to grow back.

Doggie Car Wash

Post bath en route home
In an effort to stay cute and cuddly, a Berners got to MANEtain.  I enjoy my salon visits for a nice bath, tooth brushing, little trim and of course the blowout.  I usually hit of the fancy salons like Paw Palace in Red Bank but yesterday my owner decided to take me to the Brielle Dog  Boutique to get the "stink out of me" if you will.

This place is pretty cool.  You owner gets to give you the bath with all the fixings of a doggie salon. I usually like to flirt with my stylists but I am a momma's boy so having her around was a-okay.

So I walk in and am immediately taken to the bathing area.    I take one look at the tub and I put on the brakes.  I have this little maneuver where no one can move me when I anchor down like a ton of bricks.  After a few minutes my owner takes me out and pulls a fast one on me. She quickly rushes me in through the other door and into the fancier tub on the floor.  I didnt have enough time to think about where I was going.

Since I was outsmarted, I decide just enjoy my bath.  The water was nice and warm and I was treated to the more expensive shampoo.  The salon has all the extras like good shampoo and some freebies like ear wipes, tear wipes, towels and more.   From there - it was time for a blowout.  This was a little more expensive but my owner knows I love the blowdryer.

My owner brought my furminator so she attempted to brush while drying.  Imagine my surprise when my hair was everywhere!  Little did she know that she's supposed to furminate before not after a bath.  Duh!

Everyone was super nice there! I'd definitely go back.

My Puppy Pic

So as you all already know I was adopted when I was 2 years old.  At 2, I was the same full grown adorable dog that I am now.  Unfortunately, my owners dont know how cute I was as a puppy.

My Pops decided to search to see if they were any pictures of me online.  He's convinced that this is my puppy pic down to narrow blaze and my "cindy crawford" marking on my nose.

Is it my pic?  I'll never tell.

I "dig" beach days

Today was another beautiful day on the beach in Manasquan.

I'm lucky to have nice owners who set up an umbrella for me so I watch people go by on the path.

Before laying down, I like to dig to find the cool sand.  My style is a bit different from most dogs. This is how it's done.

I like beach naps

Today is the day I've been waiting for! After a summer with my owners working on weekends and a kinda crappy September, today is the first day to just lay out on the beach.

Dogs aren't allowed yet on the beach but im fortunate to be renting a place on the beach. My afternoon activity has included hunting for shady spots and taking naps.

I highly recommend beach naps with waves crashing in the background. I don't however recommend sand in my little jowls. Back to sleep.

My Summer Buddies

I've been recently told that I haven't blogged in awhile.  I have no concept of time so I dont know if its been 5 minutes, days or months since I last posted.

I promised my summer buddies Tor, Missy, Alexa  and Ashley that I'd update my blog more frequently.  Thanks girls for keeping me on my paws. I'll do my best to keep up my blog with all my important activities.

Let's talk summer today...

My owners spend their summers in Ocean City, NJ.  My grandparents sold their place down there so we rented a dog friendly one.  I was told that there was a limited # of places available that would accept me but we found the best place ever!

My summer buddies lived downstairs from our place.  They were soooo nice to all of us.  I visited them about 5 times a day.  I'd run downstairs and b-line right to their porch to see what they were up to.  Usually Tor and Alexa would say "Hi Tubz" in unison.  I knew I was always welcome.

My summer buddies always had a treat for me. Sometimes they'd even buy a pound of cheese for my visits. I visited ALOT.

My summer buddies took me for lots of walks. They also knew that I was a big scare-d-cat.  If there was thunder and my owner wasnt home, they'd come upstairs and snuggle until the storm passed.

My summer buddies also have the cutest pets: Kai and Chester.

Kai, cute male yellow lab, visited for part of the summer.  He was so nice.  We'd just sit on the porch and watch the vacationers walk by.  He returned home mid summer to hang out with his grandmom. I was a bit sad but then I realized that I was the only dog to get all the attention and cheese!

Chester, a hampster, is like the coolest pet I've ever seen.  He runs around his cage, hides out in the pipe in the cage and runs around in a wheel.  I could watch him for hours.  I still haven't decided if I want to snuggle him or make him an appetizer.  I've been telling my owners to get one... Maybe for Christmas.

How did I get so lucky? I miss you guys!
